Japanese DIY

I bought this Japanese paper drawer DIY kit when I was in Honolulu last year. I rarely buy kits, but this one was too cute to leave behind in the store. Plus I love anything washi! <3

Although I don't speak the language, Japanese craft instructions are usually quite easy to understand. They make awesome illustrations showing you exactly what to do. The rest is just based on logic and common (crafting) sense. ^________^

Long time no see.

Yup! It sure has been a while since I updated last. Stuff happens I guess. Heh.. :/
I have been busy crafting and creating art as well as helping Alexander with the company. I have not been good at documentation nor uploading things I've done. I guess that's my semi new years resolution. Getting better at that. I usually don't make resolutions so.. Let's see how it goes!

Here's some of my lace stash. I have to admit that I'm pretty bad at using the stuff. I just hoard it, especially if it's vintage or hand made.
I crocheted the doily in the summer of 2010. It sure took a long time and made me realize how much work actually goes into one. Something to contemplate next time you find one at the thrift store for less than a dollar.

It was fun sewing something after a sketch. Making something 2d into 3d. And she does look like my dear and talented friend Sabina Larsson

Self portrait

I've promised myself to draw and paint more self portraits. I'm an artist, yet I have somehow been avoiding this great exercise. This is a sketch that I scanned and colored in photoshop. Used a pretty funky color combination. I kind of like it.

Treasures

I've been away for a little while. Illness plus participation in a public art project in Bollnäs. When I get my hands on better pictures than the ones I have now, I will share them with you.

So, what am I working on right now? An installation with text and string that's due next week. Plus filling in applications for scholarships and exhibitions. I have a great idea for some drawings and I have this massive urge to paint. So yes, a lot of art now, and not so many crafts..

These are some of my crafty little treasures I keep around for inspiration. Six glass jars with vintage metal buttons, ceramic dogs and Japanese ribbons.

Plush you!

I made this cute little fella a few weeks ago using felt, embroidery floss, polyfill and glue. All hand stitched! The pattern comes from an amazing book called 'Felt Friends from Japan'.

Speaking of Japanese crafts. I'm also very hooked on amigurumi, and have been for the past 4 years.
I've not really shared my crocheted little creatures before, but that's about to change. Here's a jellyfish I made for my friend Lisa. She bought two paintings (depicting jellyfish) by me, so I though why not include something three dimensional and cute too? (I will post pictures of these paintings soon.) 
I used mercerized cotton and some effect yarn I found in a bargain bin at the local yarn store. Love!
No pattern used. All free hand!
